LIEGENAAR (BE) is the experimental duo of Kiara Govaert and Jakke Jalink. Their practice takes various forms, ranging from noise music and sound installations to food art.

Unpredictability plays a pivotal role throughout their work, resulting in both intimate and uncomfortable situations. They are interested in using a variety of techniques and sound sources like field recordings, DIY electronics, feedback and tape manipulation, and everyday objects. This results in a mixture of murky vocalizations layered upon dissonant drones, glued together with handmade and manipulated equipment carefully beaten to pulp.

Liegenaar is a (childish) corruption of the Dutch word for liar. It is an accusation that is rendered harmless by the naivety that creeps into it.
